Terms of service

Last updated: 26 October 2026. These are the terms for using Ticked. They are written in plain language. Please read them before you start a plan. You can save or print this page at any time; it stays at https://app.bestticked.com/terms.

The short version. Ticked sends WhatsApp reminders before your business deadlines, with a checklist, and helps with paperwork on the higher plans. It is information and reminders, not legal or tax advice: you stay responsible for your own filings and payments. You pay monthly by bank transfer, your invoice comes on WhatsApp, there is no minimum period, and you can cancel any month by replying CANCEL. If you change your mind within 7 days of starting, you get your money back.

2. What Ticked does

After you message us on WhatsApp, choose your language and answer a few quick questions, Ticked tracks the dates in its rule list that apply to a business like yours, and sends you a WhatsApp reminder before each deadline, with a simple checklist. You can reply STATUS to see your list and DONE to tick something off. The plans:

PlanPriceWhat you get
RemindersR299 a monthDeadline alerts on WhatsApp 2 days before, a second nudge on the due day if it is not done yet, a Monday heads-up of the week's deadlines, and plain explanations of who each rule applies to
Done-with-youR499 a month (founding-member price; regular price R599)Everything in Reminders, plus drafted policies and checklists, and a quarterly check-in
Regulated tradesR1,200 a monthEverything in Done-with-you, plus industry rules for larger teams

Reminders start once we receive your first payment for a plan; until then you can see your list by replying STATUS. If you cancel, your reminders continue until the end of the month you have paid for. The setup questions include the area your business is in, so that reminders about licences, zoning and food certificates name your municipality. Documents on the Done-with-you and Regulated trades plans are drafts for you to check and adapt. Our rule list covers common obligations for small South African businesses; it does not cover every rule that may apply to you, and official dates and requirements can change. We check our rules against official sources, but you stay responsible for meeting your own obligations. Always confirm with SARS, CIPC, the Department of Employment and Labour, your municipality or your accountant. Ticked is not a law firm or a registered tax practitioner, no government body endorses it, and it cannot promise that you will avoid fines or penalties. Ticked explains rules in general terms. It does not advise you on your own tax affairs, and it does not complete or submit returns for you: for that, use a registered tax practitioner or your accountant.

3. Starting a plan

You start a plan on WhatsApp: we tell you the plan and its monthly price, and the plan starts only when you reply to confirm. Until then you can change your choice or say no. By confirming, you agree to these terms. You must be 18 or older and act for a business.

4. Prices and paying

5. Cancelling, cooling-off and refunds

6. Messages

We send WhatsApp messages only to people who asked to hear from us. Reply STOP at any time and we stop all messages (if you are on a paid plan, also reply CANCEL or tell us, so the plan ends too). Reminders, invoices and check-ins are sent through approved WhatsApp message templates.

7. Using Ticked fairly

Please give us accurate answers: your reminders follow them. Reply UPDATE when something changes. Do not misuse the service, send unlawful content, or try to interfere with our systems. We may pause or end the service for anyone who does, and we will tell you why.

8. Our responsibility to you

We provide Ticked with reasonable care and skill. To the extent the law allows, we are not responsible for fines, penalties, interest or other losses that result from a deadline or requirement that our rule list does not cover, that changed, or that was not met, or from WhatsApp, internet or other services we do not control being unavailable. To the extent the law allows, our total responsibility to you is limited to what you paid us in the 3 months before the event. This does not limit any responsibility the law does not allow us to limit, including under the Consumer Protection Act.

9. Your information

Our privacy policy explains what information we collect and how we protect it, including how payments and payment information are handled securely. Online card payments are made on the secure page of our online payment provider; we never see card details. Our PAIA manual explains how to ask for records we hold.

10. Bookkeepers and accountants (partners)

If you refer clients to Ticked as a partner, we agree the commission with you in writing before you start. Tax questions from your clients are passed to you only if the client agreed on WhatsApp.

11. Complaints

Please tell us first: email troyeiyer@gmail.com or message us on WhatsApp, and we will reply within 5 business days. If we cannot resolve it, you may contact the Consumer Goods and Services Ombud (cgso.org.za) or the National Consumer Commission (thencc.org.za). For privacy complaints, see section 8 of our privacy policy.

12. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. We will tell you on WhatsApp at least 30 days before a change that affects you, and you can cancel before it applies. The date at the top shows when they last changed.

13. Law

South African law applies to these terms.
